How it works
Open an FD with the bank, from a few thousand rupees.
The bank marks a lien on it and issues a card with a limit of up to 90–100% of the FD.
Use the card and pay the bill in full every month. Each on-time payment is reported to the bureaus.
After 6–12 months of good use, move to a normal unsecured card and the lien is released.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a credit card with no credit score?
Yes. A secured card is backed by your fixed deposit, so the bank does not need a credit history or income proof.
What happens to my FD?
It stays yours and keeps earning interest. The bank only marks a lien on it, which is released when you close the card or move to an unsecured one.
How fast does my score improve?
Lenders now report to the bureaus every 15 days. Most people see a first score within a few months of using the card and paying on time.
